Monday evening at our knitting group we discussed the various cast-on techniques and realized that we all used different methods. One member who uses a very decorative cast-on could not tell us what it's called.....I looked in all my knitting reference books and searched online but have not had any success in identifying it. I did however learn that there is allot of confusion regarding names of techniques.....three youtube videos of the same exact technique were called by three different names. So here is a scan of the cast-on method I learned on Monday and would be interested to know if anyone recognizes it and what it's called in their neck of the woods. The cast-on is done in 2 steps...the first resembling the long-tail cast-on (although one reference book calls it the German cast-on) the second part is somewhat similar but reversed......
